Our 7 favourite ramen spots in Barcelona
A good bowl of ramen belongs on your Barcelona list. These are seven places we recommend, from Eixample to Gràcia and El Born.
Barcelona dinners do not always have to mean tapas. Some days call for broth, noodles and a table where you can settle in after exploring the city. If that is your mood, keep this list handy.
These are seven of our favourites at FridaysFlats. We have kept the list practical: which neighbourhood each restaurant is in, what to look for and how to fit a bowl into your day. The numbers are there to help you navigate, rather than declare a winner.
Pick a neighbourhood. Find your bowl.
Start with where you will be, rather than crossing the city hungry.

Ramen-ya Hiro
Carrer de Girona, 164, Barcelona
Start with the noodles
Hiro is an Eixample stop for a bowl built around noodles and broth made in its own kitchen. It earns a place on our favourites list when the meal itself is the plan: choose your ramen, sit down and leave the sightseeing for later. The restaurant currently takes dinner reservations and also keeps some tables for walk-ins; those are not a guarantee of a short wait.
Make a plan: Check the dinner booking page before you go. For takeaway, distinguish the restaurant from its neighbouring Hirolab operation.
Grasshopper Ramen Bar
Plaça de la Llana, 9, Barcelona
A bowl between old-town streets
Grasshopper is our ramen stop on Plaça de la Llana, in El Born. It belongs to Mosquito Grup, whose restaurants cover different Asian specialities; Grasshopper is the ramen-focused one. Keep it in mind when you want a meal to anchor an old-town afternoon, rather than another destination that takes you away from the neighbourhood you are exploring.
Make a plan: Use the Grasshopper map pin. The group's Carders address belongs to Mosquito, not this restaurant.
UMAMI PLANT BASED
Carrer del Progrés, 6, Barcelona
Put plants at the centre
For plant-based ramen, UMAMI is the dedicated choice in our Gràcia shortlist. Choose it because you want a vegetable-led meal, whether or not you usually eat vegan. Its own FAQ recommends booking, so it is worth planning this stop before you head into the neighbourhood. A plant-based menu does not automatically mean a gluten-free kitchen.
Make a plan: Book through the restaurant's website and ask directly about any dietary requirements.
Kanada-Ya Ramen Barcelona
Carrer de València, 240, Barcelona
For a tonkotsu mood
Kanada-Ya describes its speciality as tonkotsu: ramen with a pork-bone broth. The Barcelona restaurant is on Carrer de València, making it another Eixample option on our list. Start here if that is the style you are looking for, then check the local menu before choosing your bowl. Menus from the brand's overseas restaurants are not a promise of what Barcelona serves.
Make a plan: Open the Barcelona map listing for local details; avoid relying on London opening hours or menu prices.
Koku Kitchen | El Born
Carrer del Comerç, 29, Barcelona
Make room for something to share
Koku Kitchen El Born brings ramen and gyozas to Carrer del Comerç. Its own restaurant page also lists baos and karaage, so this is a useful pick when your table wants a bowl plus something to share. Vegan ramen is listed too. Be specific about the branch when arranging to meet: Koku Kitchen has other restaurants around Barcelona.
Make a plan: Select El Born at Carrer del Comerç, 29 when checking the menu or booking details.
Ryu Ramen Gracia
Carrer de Ramón y Cajal, 35, Barcelona
Choose a style in Gràcia
Ryu is our stop on Carrer de Ramón y Cajal. The published menu includes shoyu, miso and tonkotsu, giving you several directions for your next bowl. It fits a Gràcia day when you want to stay in the neighbourhood for dinner. Choose from the current menu rather than treating every style or topping as available year-round.
Make a plan: Use the Gràcia address when checking directions. Ask about the broth and toppings if ordering a vegetarian dish.
Shoronpo GRACIA 小籠包
Carrer del Doctor Rizal, 20, Barcelona
Ramen, with dumplings alongside
Shoronpo is our Doctor Rizal pick for ramen and the soup-filled dumplings that give the restaurant its name. It is a good way to build a meal around a bowl and a shared plate rather than ordering ramen alone. We mean the Gràcia restaurant here: check the branch when you open the map or arrange your visit.
Make a plan: Leave a little room for dumplings. Check the current selection before deciding what to share.
Make it part of your Barcelona day
An Eixample dinner
Choose Hiro or Kanada-Ya to work around your Eixample plans. Check the dinner arrangements before setting off, especially if you have a timed booking elsewhere.
An afternoon in Gràcia
Leave time to wander the neighbourhood, then choose UMAMI, Ryu or Shoronpo. Pick one meal stop; this is a shortlist to return to, rather than a seven-bowl challenge.
An El Born food stop
Choose Grasshopper or Koku Kitchen El Born while exploring the old town. On a wet day, keep the walk flexible; our Raval rainy-day guide offers a separate cultural itinerary.
A few useful questions
Where should I start for vegan ramen?
UMAMI PLANT BASED is the dedicated plant-based choice on our list. Koku Kitchen El Born also lists vegan ramen. Check the current dish and toppings with the restaurant when ordering.
Should I book a table?
Check the restaurant's own booking information for your date. Hiro currently lists dinner reservations, and UMAMI recommends booking. Do not assume the same policy applies to every restaurant or every service.
Is vegan ramen necessarily gluten-free?
No. These are different requirements. Ask the restaurant directly about ingredients and kitchen handling before ordering; UMAMI states that it cannot guarantee an absence of gluten traces.
Which restaurants fit an El Born visit?
Grasshopper Ramen Bar and Koku Kitchen El Born are the two El Born picks here. Use the individual map links to choose the one that fits your plans.
Menus, opening hours and reservation arrangements can change. Check the restaurant's current information before travelling; ask directly about any dietary requirements.
